ALL TAXPAYERS REQUIRED TO FILE TAX RETURNS AND PAY TAXES ONLINE

Pursuant to Section 22 (2)(c) of The Tax Administration and Procedure Act, Chapter 51 Revised Edition 2020 (TAPA), which grants the Director General of the Belize Tax Service Department (BTSD) the authority to specify the manner in which returns should be filed, including electronically and with electronic signature, the Director General hereby notifies ALL taxpayers that effective April 1, 2023 they will be required to file tax returns and pay all taxes administered by the BTSD online.

REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST: PROJECT SUPPORT OFFICER

The Government of Belize (GoB) has entered into a US$ 14 Million Loan Contract Agreement (No. 4839/OC-BL) with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for the execution of a five-year tax modernization project entitled “Strengthening of Tax Administration”. The Ministry intends to apply a part of the proceeds towards payments for the services of Project Support Officer.
The objective of the position is to provide general administrative and clerical support to the PEU in compliance with IDB and national regulations.

APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF GOOD STANDING The Director General of the Belize Tax Service Department (BTSD) hereby notifies all taxpayers that an application for a Certificate of Good Standing (COGS) from the BTSD must be submitted at least one week prior to the date that it is due.

NOTICE FILING OF COUNTRY BY COUNRY REPORTING

The Mutual Administrative Assistance In Tax Matters (Automatic Exchange Of Country-By-Country Reports) Regulation S.I. No. 57 of 2020 Section (“CbC Regulations”) was published in April 18th, 2020 and has thereafter entered into force. The requirement to file CbC Reports forms part of the enhanced transfer pricing documentation set out in BEPS Action 13 report.

HEADQUARTERS RELOCATING

The Director General hereby notifies the General Public that the Belize Tax Service Department Headquarters located at the Charles Bartlett Hyde Building, Mahogany Street Extension will be relocated effective 4th July 2022.
As a result, our office on Mahogany Street will be closed for business on Thursday 30th June and Friday 1st July 2022. Regular business will resume on Monday 4th July 2022 at 8:00am.
